***************************************************

This course works slightly differently to our other creative craft courses as it acts as a 'bolt on' to the Level 1. Learners work through the Level 1 content before tackling some more challenging practical projects and the business enterprise unit (totalling 17 workbooks). Please note - as this is a relatively new provision, we do not yet hold direct claim status for this provision. If completing in between our moderation points, there may be a delay in receiving certification.

This is a distance learning course towards an NCFE Ofqual approved qualification, scheduled to run for 2 academic years. (over 11 half terms) This is widely considered as comparable to a GCSE level course at grade A*-C. Whether a prospective college will recognise it as such can depend on the area you live in or even the course you are applying for, so we always recommend that you phone the admissions office of any potential college to confirm that they would accept this particular qualification if reliant on it for next steps.

It is worthwhile highlighting to the college, this is an Ofqual approved qualification worth 15 credits. Recommended time to dedicate to completing the course is 3-4 hours per week, term time. However, we operate a completely flexible approach to the course with the ability to hand in work at any point in the term. This is particularly useful for learners who might have other exam commitments etc throughout the year.

Suitable for children with a reading and comprehension age of 13 plus although no minimum or maximum ages are imposed by us.

The most significant differences between this course and the Level 1 are:

1.Time needed to complete, approximately twice as many hours per week.
2. Written content requires much more detail.
3. Level 2 has an additional unit focussed on the business aspects of working within the industry - a cross over into Business Studies.

There is no requirement to have completed the Level 1 if you think your learner is ready for the Level 2. The course is assessed by an assigned assessor, through the submission of written work and photographic evidence, after completion of each of the 17 workbooks. There is a requirement to occasionally complete a video log that evidences the child's work is their own (guidance is provided on this and there are solutions for learners who may prefer not to talk on camera).

*Total cost of course is £600 but is payable in 24 monthly instalments of £25.

What happens next? Your 1st payment will be 1st August. After which you will receive an Induction Pack by post (with a free Technology Triumphs gift).

Via email: You will receive details of a Touch Base Zoom session planned for the 8th April as well as your log in details for the learning portal.

*Please get in touch if you have not received your pack or log in details by 2nd September.

* Our new term starts 9th September, so while you may have access to the course content before then, online support will not be available until this date.

It is entirely possible to adapt all recipes provided to suit individual dietary needs. Included in the cost of the course is:

* Termly fillable pdf workbooks and links to pre filmed tutorials
* Access to the closed Facebook group with termly competitions running
* Online support from a qualified and experienced teacher
* Termly assessment and feedback from a qualified teacher
* Registration and certification from the exam board, NCFE.

N.B It is not a requirement to have Facebook access, this is an extra supportive measure, but the course can be completed without this.
Please note - this course has been designed for home educated learners who have an adult facilitator acting as their 'tutor'. The pre filmed tutorials and workbooks will guide the learner through the qualification but there may be the need to complete further independent research. Many of our learners are able to complete the work completely independently, with their supervising adult providing minimal support.

As the course is designed to be flexible, Technology Triumphs does not chase for late submissions or impose any deadlines. For those that would prefer a more structured approach to their course, termly dates are provided as a target date to complete each workbook in order to complete within the suggested 2 years.

If your learner needs longer to complete their course, it is absolutely possible to submit work even after payments have been completed. If your learner completes their course before their payment plan has completed, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance before your learners certificate is released. The enhance DBS checked course tutor is available for support through a messaging service via the learning portal for as long as your learner is progressing through the course.
